The
links are new
and still being developed. As
we get more materials processed it will let you find manuscripts
indexed in different ways.
The
link is a reference of materials by the Regions of the World
from which they have been submitted.
The
link
is a guide to Parables and Miracles for your reference.
Other Languages - Non-English Material
The
link is an index of materials by their language. This index
is growing as missionaries from around the world submit materials
in the languages they use in their work. If you have materials
that you or your team have developed please consider submitting
them.
Downloading Files
From "Group Lists" or the "X-References Indexes" you
can link to the Information/Review page for that manuscript.
On that page you can read a summary of the manuscript, reviews,
information on how some missionaries are using the manuscript,
and select to download the manuscript
to your computer.
How to Download Files
1. When
you find a manuscript you want to "download" to your computer, "click" the
button
for the format of the manuscript you want.
2. Your "IPS
User Id" and Password will be requested. Your
information will be submitted and recorded as a acceptance of the copyright
and usage restrictions
for that manuscript.
We
recommend that you create a new "folder" or "directory" on
your computer called: "IPSdown". When you
are asked where to save the manuscript we recommend you
place all downloads in that folder or directory. Then when
you want a file that you have downloaded you will always
know where to look for it.
Note: When you download files it is possible to
change the name of the file as your computer downloads
it. Don't do it! Don't change the name
of the file. If you do, the file compression software will
not be able to open the manuscript file and you will have
difficulties locating the file.
What
are the Different Types of Down-load Files?
There are several different types of files that can be down-loaded. Not
all manuscripts have every type of file ready for down-load.
Word Procceser Files

These down-load buttons are for "Uncompressed" word processor files.
You can select the type that matchs your word processor. These files are
not
formatted for printing. They are for users who want to edit or adapt a
manuscript before they give them to their translators.
(These files will
have a file extention of .wpd or .wpd or .txt)
Note: If your operating system is XP, it will open the file directly into
your word processor then you must save the file after it has opened.
Self-Extracting Compressed Word Processor Files

These down-load buttons are for "Self-Extracting Compressed or Zipped" word
processor files. In most cases these are smaller than the normal word processor
files so they will down-load faster. They will have a file extention of .exe
just like a program. The advantage of self-extracting compressed files is that
you
do
not
have to have a copy of the decompression software or your computer. After down-loading
you
simply
"double-click" the file and it will automatically extract itself and
place the word processor file in a folder/directory named c:\ipsdown\.
Adobe Printer Definition File (PDF)
PDF files are design to allow any user to view and print the manuscript on
any printer using any computer. However you must have a copy of Adobe Reader
on your computer. Adobe Reader is supplied free with most operating systems
and many different software packages. You can also down-load it free directly
from Adobe Acrobat.
(Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader are the property of and copyrighted by Adobe
Corporation)
Our PDF files are not for files that you would edit or
adapt.
Our
PDF files come in two types.
The first type is 'Print-a-Book' designed to allow
you to print a copy of the original booklet. In some cases, the first page
will
be a color cover page and the second page will be a black and white cove page.
This way you can use the one that will work best for you. These PFD files are
made so
that you
can
print the
pages front
and
back
on the same sheet of paper. Then stack the pages in order, staple them in
the middle, fold the pages down the middle and you will have a copy of the
booklet. You can also take these pages to your 'copy-shop' or 'print-shop' to
make a few or a lot of copies. These
can
be
very
useful
for
small
groups
where
you
only
need
a
few
copies of
the
booklets. They are also good for meetings where you want to evaluate
the book for use in your work.
The second type is designed for taking the book to a print shop so they can print
a large number of books. In these files the pages are layed-out with one
page per sheet of paper with crop and printer registration lines. These are then
trimed
by the print shop and the orginal is made to size of the printing press. You
can cut these yourself and paste together your own book. These type
of
file will
have a description as a "Print Shop" copy.
(PDF files have a file extention of .pdf)
Note: If your operating system is XP, it will open the file directly into
your copy of Adobe Reader then you must save the file after it has opened it.
Visual Library Files

Visual Library Files allow you to download a copy of the book for viewing
on your computer screen. These files are complete folders that have been
compressed
into a single self-extracting file.
There are two types of visual library files.
The first type is smaller and designed for if you have a standard modem connection.
If you have to use your computer to "dial up" to send and receive your emails
then you probably have a standard moden connection. the Icon for these file is
GREEN.
The second type is very large and
only recommended for an ADSL connection.
If your computer is located in an office with other computers and you all
share information through you local network, then you probably have an ADSL
connection.
There will probably be some one who helps take of your computers. The question
to ask is, "Do I have a standard modem connection or a ADSL connection? The
Icon for these files is Red and Yellow.
After
they are downloaded and extracted.
Open the folder using Explorer.
Then at
the
top
or bottom of the folder you will see a file named "view.htm".
To
view the book "double-click" the "view.htm file in that books
folder.

Can
I let some other group print an IPS manuscript?
Yes and No. If you are working in a joint project with another
group and it will help you reach some of your team's opjectives
talk about it with your Strategy Coordinator. They can
make a request to let another group print IPS materials.
There is an agreement that has to be worked out and limitations
the other group has to undestand and agree to. That is called
"Consigning Usage and Distribution Rights".

I talked
with my SC and they said it was, "Ok!". Is there a problem?
Yes! Your SC can not give you permission. They can
ask us for permission. Only IPS can give someone outside the
IMB permission to print IPS materials.
I work for the IMB. Can I print IPS materials?
Yes, but you need to inform us. That is part
of the User Agreement you agreed to. IPS still owns or
represents
these materials. But, we want you
to use
them
if
they will help you in your work. So, we have given IMB personnel
a "blanket" permission to print IPS materials.
All we ask is that you let us know and that you send us a
couple of copies.
Leting us know is easy. Just Click on the Print Notice and send us the information.

Why Register?
Dear Fellow IMB Representative,
Many of the manuscripts contained in this web site are owned by the Southern
Africa Region of the IMB. Others are owned by fellow missionaries who have
been kind enough to let us distribute their work so you might find effective
ways to apply them to your work.
In both cases we have been charged with making sure that these manuscripts
are not released to the general public without Copyright or Distribution
protection. This is why we require every user to register. Every time a user
logs-on to download a file they will be required to enter their User ID
and their password. These are kept on file as an acceptance of the copyright
and distribution
restrictions of each manuscript. This information is not shared outside the
IMB.
Sincerely,
The Director, International Publications Services
