You’ll be living in the part of Africa that falls below the Sahara Desert, where you’ll discover countless cultures of friendliness and hospitality.

Here, people value relationships more than any schedule, and friendly foreigners are typically welcomed warmly. Beyond that, diversity abounds:

Geography – It ranges from rain forests to barren deserts to modern cities and tropical islands.

People – It’s home to more than 45 countries and 2,500 people groups who face challenges from civil war to disease and famine. It also hosts more than 70 percent of the world's HIV/AIDS cases.

Spirituality – It includes Islamic strongholds, voodoo covens and a large Hindu population from South Asia. In countless villages throughout the area, African Traditional Religions rule the way people live their lives through ancestor worship and witch doctors.

Christianity has made its impact in some parts of this region, but hundreds of people groups have never had access to the Gospel. For many, extremely rough terrain physically hinders their access to Truth.

HandsOn Africa is striving to work with field missionaries to bring hope to every tribe, every tongue, and every nation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
